THE GROWN UP CHOCOLATE COMPANY

As a part of our final year at university we were tasked to complete and submit a YCN brief of our choice. We decided to challenge ourselves with a branding & packaging project. We chose ‘The Grown Up Chocolate Company’ brief, which requested that we “create a new identity for The Grown Up Chocolate Company’s new ‘free from’ range of deliciously decadent handmade bars”. The goal of this new range was to give the ever-growing population of restrictive diets and health conscious people a chance to enjoy their products. The Grown Up Chocolate company’s current customer profile is middle aged women, so the this new packaging needed to appeal to them as well as a younger market.

After reading the brief and researching into the relevant markets we knew we needed a strong visual brand that put a positive spin on a ‘free from’ range that had clear visual connections to the main brand. We decided on naming the range ‘NO’ however the logo would create a smiley face in a bright fun colour that felt energetic and playful. The tagline would be “No Nuts, No Dairy, No Cruelty. The design of the packaging followed the same layout as the main brand with a slight alteration to the colour schemes.

We are really happy with the outcome of this project and feel this would be a successful range for The Grown Up Chocolate Company.

This project was a part of our Final Major Project during our third year of university and was exhibited as part of HCA Synthesis 2018.
